Punctum Inc’s Seedpod presents RESTORE – 5 May
Punctum’s Inc’s renowned Seedpod Residency program extends to the Phee in 2018 to present RESTORE by Renae Shadler and Natasha Phillips.
WINNER Regional Arts Victoria Market Ready Award and NOMMINEE Best Performance Award at Melbourne Fringe Festival 2016
RESTORE is an attempt to slow, pause, or even reverse time. This new contemporary performance solo poetically overlays dance, theatre and design to create multifaceted images.
Inspired by a residency in an Icelandic fishing village with an active volcano capped with a glacier in her backyard, Renae is compelled by Snæfellsjökull (the volcano/glacier) to reconsider her fast-paced ‘go go go’ lifestyle. In a world where being busy feels like success and nothingness instills fear, she finds herself hurtling towards the realisation of an already-imagined future.
RESTORE is an ongoing investigation into hyper-mobility, time acceleration and contemporary labour. Currently in development, RESTORE had a series of public-showings in Iceland, Germany and was selected as part of the curated Melbourne Fringe HUB program 2016.
The performance will be followed by refreshments and audience/conversation with the artists to assist with the work’s development ahead of premiering one week later at Dancehouse.
“An elegantly executed performance with stunning visuals and music…a fascinating and enchanting performer that you can’t take your eyes off.” RESTORE, Melbourne Fringe – Aussie Theatre
