Professor Gillian Triggs keynote for Refugee Week
Professor Gillian Triggs will speak at Castlemaine’s Phee Broadway Theatre on Monday 18 June as part of Refugee Week 2018.
The former President of the Australian Human Rights Commission appears as part of a wider program of Refugee Week events presented by Rural Australians for Refugees Castlemaine (RAR) in partnership with Mount Alexander Shire Council.
Professor Triggs is a co-patron of RAR nationally. As the President of the Australian Human Rights Commission between 2012 and 2107, she came into public prominence with the release of the report The Forgotten Children: National Inquiry into Children in Immigration Detention. Her current focus is the need for the development of an Australian Charter of Human Rights.
