Djaara Djandak 1-15 July 2018

As part of NAIDOC Week celebrations, the Djaara Djandak Aboriginal Art Exhibition will feature artists from across Mount Alexander Shire including Uncle Rick Nelson, Kane Nelson, Daikota Nelson, Alvin Briggs, Wendy Oates and Kerri Douglas.

It will also highlight work being produced by inmates from Middleton and Tarrengower Prisons.

Artefacts from the Nelson family’s personal collection will be on exhibition to the public for the first time.

The exhibition title Djaara Diandak translates to Our People, Our Country. The Djaara, or the Dja Dja Wurrung people are the Traditional Owners of Djandak (our Country).

Djaara Djandak will launch on Saturday 30 June from 6-7pm. All welcome.

Djaara Djandak is proudly supported by Mount Alexander Shire Council, the Regional Centre for Culture and the Castlemaine Art Museum.
